Heillä oli kiikarissa hyvällä paikalla oleva Ollikaisen liiketalo. Niinpä uudenvuoden päivänä 1941 ryhdyttiin tuumasta toimeen ja lähdettiin Klaus Ollikaisen puheille Honkaniemeen kaupantekoon. Jo samana iltana kauppa tehtiin ja kauppakirja allekirjoitettiin seuraavana päivänä. Lottakoti rakennuksena oli yhdistyksen omaisuutta, mutta Manttaalikunta omisti tontin, josta vuokrakirja on tehty maaliskuussa 1941. Kaksi helsinkiläistä lukiolaispoikaa oli kesällä 1943 työvelvollisina kartoittamassa Onkivedellä järvimalmiesiintymiä. He ovat usein käyneet Lottalassa. Alakerrassa oli kahvila, ruokala ja keittiö sekä yläkerrassa 5-6 matkustajahuonetta. Emännöitsijä Iida Roininen ja tarjoilijalotat olivat tulleet tutuiksi. Kun Lotta Svärd järjestö kiellettiin jatkosodan jälkeen 1944, yhdistys luovutti sekä tontin vuokraoikeuden että omistuksessaan olleen rakennuksen irtaimistoineen Lapinlahden kunnalle marraskuussa 1944. Nimeksi tuli Yhteiskunta, ja majoitus- ja ravintolatoiminta jatkui. Jossain vaiheessa kiinteistön omistajaksi on tullut Haminamäki-säätiö, jolta kunta osti sen vuonna 1966.
