Koulu siirtyi valtion haltuun ja valtionavun piiriin vuonna 1899. Lukukausimaksut alenivat ja vuonna 1904 ruotsin kieli poistui pääsyvaatimuksista.<br /><br />Tyttökoulu toimi eri vuokrahuoneistoissa. Vuonna 1902 alettiin etsiä tonttia omalle koulutalolle, Kaupunki luovutti koulun rakennuspaikan Pielisjoen varrelta Pötkänniemeltä vuonna 1907. Sinne rakennettiin tyttökoulun oma rakennus, jonka vihkiäisiä vietettiin 25.10.1913.<br /><br />Joensuun suomalaisen tyttökoulun vuosikertomus lukuvuodelta 1927-1928. Yleiskatsauksessa kerrotaan kahden opettajattaren pitkästä urasta heidän erotessaan virastaan. Laulun opettaja, rehtorinrouva Aini Wegelius erosi sairauden vuoksi ja saksan kielen opettaja Bertha Pipinen eläkkeelle jäätyään.
